Remembering Katrina, Helping Through Harvey

Remembering Katrina, Helping Through Harvey
Hurricane Harvey has left a path of destruction in southeastern Texas. It’s a feeling many Louisiana residents know all too well, and we stand ready to help our neighbors.

As we commemorate the 12th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, we remember the compassion and hospitality our friends in Texas showed us in our greatest hour of need. I’m encouraged by the outpouring of support and help so many people of Louisiana have offered. I’ll continue to keep those in Texas in my prayers.

As a Louisiana resident, you can’t help but be proud to see stories about members of the Cajun Navy traveling to Houston to rescue stranded residents. These brave men and women represent the best Louisiana has to offer.

I encourage you to support Texas residents impacted by Hurricane Harvey. Here are some ways you can donate your time or money:

While Louisiana has been fortunate to not take a direct hit from the storm, we are still not out of the woods. You can get the latest news from the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Preparedness.
