Rep. Schroder to Donate Special Session Pay to Flood Victims

Baton Rouge, LA — Today, Representative John Schroder (R. Covington), announced his intention to donate his special session pay to victims of the 2016 August flood. Schroder recently announced his resignation from the legislature to run full time for Treasurer. His resignation does not take effect until the end of the special session.

“It’s unacceptable that here are hundreds of Louisianans who are still not back in their homes nearly a year after the flood,” said Schroder. “My hope is that giving up my pay for this special session will shine a light on the continued failure of our state and federal government to take care of these individuals who lost everything through no fault of their own.”

Schroder said he would identify a local charity that would ensure 100% of the money given would go directly to families that need it.
